ASSESSING WRITING

Writing is one of four main skills in English and an interactive process of constructing meaning which involves producing, receiving and processing information in the written form. In learning process, it’s very important to know how far students’ ability in writing skill. The teacher has to assess their students’ writing skill by conducting writing test. There are four types of writing assessment: imitative writing, intensive writing, responsive writing, and extensive writing. Before conducting the test, the teacher has to make syllabus and blue print of the test items. After the teacher conduct writing test, it’s important to make quantitative analyse to know whether the test item successful or not. In scoring students'writing, it is important to the teacher to look at rubric to make analytic scoring.
